What happens on the first visit?

The first visit is all about getting to know the home and the client’s specific needs. We’ll complete a walkthrough of both the interior and exterior, gather information about major appliances and home systems, and create a customized maintenance plan. Because we’re establishing a baseline and documenting everything, the initial visit is typically longer than future visits.

Our goal is to have the same Tasketeer visit your home each time. Consistency helps build trust and ensures your Tasketeer becomes familiar with your home and routine. Occasionally, due to illness, vacations, or scheduling conflicts, a substitute may be required. When this happens, detailed home reports and visit notes ensure the replacement Tasketeer is fully informed before arriving.

Minor repairs that can be completed within the scheduled visit time will be taken care of whenever possible. If a repair requires additional time, materials, or cost, we will discuss the options and obtain approval before proceeding. If necessary, a follow-up visit can be scheduled at a convenient time.

Yes. While we may recommend a 6- or 12-month commitment to help maintain the home properly, we never want anyone to feel locked into a service that isn’t the right fit. You may cancel at any time and will only be responsible for payment of services and repairs completed prior to cancellation.

We currently serve Ottawa, Stittsville, Kanata, Richmond, Kemptville, Orleans, and Carleton Place. If you’re located outside these areas, please contact us. We carefully select Tasketeers based on their experience, practical skills, reliability, and personality. This role requires more than just handyman knowledge—it also requires patience, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a friendly, professional approach when working with seniors and their families.

Finding the right fit is important. If for any reason you feel a different Tasketeer would be a better match, we’ll do our best to assign another available Tasketeer in your area at no additional cost.

Yes. Every Tasketeer is personally interviewed by The Tasketeers and must provide a current criminal background check before joining our team. We carefully select individuals based on their experience, reliability, and ability to work respectfully with seniors and families. While many Tasketeers carry their own liability insurance, not all do. If insurance coverage is a requirement for your household, simply let us know and we’ll match you with an insured Tasketeer.
